You can use a barcode reader to a run a stock take quickly and automatically.

Performing a Stock Take Once the stock take has been started, any item that is scanned into the stock module on any machine will be counted as part of the stock take. You will need to scan an item for every one you have in stock. For example, if you have four of a frame in a certain colour and size combination you will need to scan the barcode four times to record the correct level of stock.

Starting a Stock Take You can start a stock take from any PC, although you will only be able to actually perform the stock take on a computer with a barcode scanner attached. Once a stock take has been started it will stay in progress until you either complete it or pause it.

Pausing a Stock Take You can temporarily pause a stock take once in progress, if, for example, you need to change location or assist a customer. You should be aware that if you have stock checked an item, and if you then sell that item and remove it frock stock, this will not be taken into consideration when the stock take is completed. For example if you have 10 bottles of eyedrops and scan this number in as part of the stock take, if you then sell one of these bottles before completing the stock take, the completed stock take will still state that there are 10 bottles.

Continue Stock Take When a stock take is set to paused you will need to click on the Continue button to resume the stock take procedure.

Completing a Stock Take Click on the End Stock Take button when you have completed the stock take using the barcode scanner. You will be presented with the following dialog box

<<IMAGE HERE>>

Yes Clicking on yes will update the existing stock levels based on the results of the stock take. If you select this you will be presented with a further dialog asking if you wish to ‘Zero Unscanned Stock Items’. Click Yes if you have completed a full stock take, based on the items you physically have. Any items that you have not scanned in will have their stock level set to zero, the logical thought being that if the item was in stock you would have scanned it in. Clicking No will only update the stock levels of the itmes you have scanned, leaving all other stock items at their previous levels. This would be useful if you were only performing a partial stock take, for example only one manufacturer or only miscellaneous items and accessories.

No Click on no will not update the stock levels based on the stock take, so all item levels will remain at their pre-stock take values. The results of the stock will be still be saved allowing you to print out a stock take report.

Cancel Clicking on cancel will allow you to continue with the stock take.
