Support for Windows 7 is nearing an end
On the 14th January 2020, Microsoft are ceasing their support of the Windows 7 operating system. Computers running Windows 7 will continue to run, however support services including security updates or fixes, technical support and software updates will be removed.
Based on the removal of these services, if you are running on Windows 7, your PC’s operating system will no longer be GDPR compliant and be at greater risk to viruses and malware. Microsoft commented:
“Going forward, the best way for you to stay secure is on Windows 10 and the best way to experience Windows 10 is on a new PC. While it is possible to install Windows 10 on your older device, it is not recommended.”

It’s also worth noting that Windows 8 support will also be coming to an end, although there is a little more time. Support will end in 2023, therefore the only way to ‘future proof’ your operating system is to switch to Windows 10 which will be continually supported.
