Sheffield Hospital Rolls Out Paperless Practice
March 18, 2008
A new optical practice, which includes a full laser eye surgery suite, with a team of ophthalmologists, optometrists and optical assistants, is set to open within the Royal Hallamshire, Sheffield's teaching hospital.

Believed to be the most comprehensive in the country, the new unit will run as a completely paperless practice, thanks to an investment in Optisoft's new Enterprise edition, running on six terminals throughout the practice. Every module of the IT system will link the practice into the laser eye surgery facility - Appointments, Recall, Cash, Bar-coded Stock Control, OptomNotes™, Frames on Faces™ and Ordering.

"We scoured the stands at Optrafair for a proper practice management system and were blown away by how user-friendly the system is. We were stunned by what was on offer and Optisoft's Microsoft database has the added benefit of linking in very well with the hospital trust's own IT system," said Jon Stokes, Optometrist Principal, who is also a qualified dispensing optician.
